NEW FACILITY PLAYED HOST TO ECONOMIC SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY
The new facility at Silverstone of EDM Precision Technologies Ltd played host to Local MP Andrea Leadsom during the British Grand Prix Weekend.
During her visit she commented on the tremendous speed in which they managed to complete the move from the premises they have occupied on the Silverstone Park Estate for the last 6 years, to the new 6000 sq ft building. The relocation included a significant increase in electrical supply to the building and also specialised fit out work, to provide Inspection, Cad/Cam, meeting spaces and of course a “pit-stop” for the team of 10 experienced EDM engineers and trainees.
The additional space at the new facility has enabled EDM to satisfy growing demand and acquire two more Mitsubishi EDM machines (they now have 15) and also a Nakamura Tome turning centre (from ETG Engineering Technology Group) which will further enhance their machining capabilities.
EDM at Silverstone, have experienced very good year on year growth since 2009 and in addition to supplying five F1 teams and other motorsport customers, the business has experienced increased demand from every sector including Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, Oil and Gas, R&D and renewables.
The new unit is part of the Silverstone Park development which is very significant in scope with 130 acres of land around Silverstone circuit and 2.4 million sq ft of planning consent for a variety of users : research and development, manufacturing, automotive brand centres, offices, education and hotels.
